SNP Government Can't Even Organise the Census in Scotland!

 BM

SNP Government Can't Even Organise the Census in Scotland.

NRS - (National Records of Scotland) have been forced to put back the deadline for census by four weeks because at least 600,000 Scottish households have not completed and returned their census forms. That is about 23% of the total population who are not cooperating with the Scottish government and ignoring the £1.000 fine threat if they do not comply.

The Constitution Secretary Angus Robertson denies that he is presiding over a 'disastrous process', and Holyrood has been forced to offer NRS an extra £10million to cover the extra costs of extending the deadline. The original deadline was set for Sunday, May 1st 2022 but despite a torrent of reminder letters and cards, and the threat of a £1,000 fine, still 600,000 have not submitted paper returns.

This little exercise in SNP government efficiency has pushed the costs of Scotland's census over the £30 million mark.  Talk about value for money.

Keen to demonstrate to the rest of the UK how a census should be done, the Holyrood government prioritised on-line census returns, but at least 68,000 Scottish on-line return forms were either incomplete or not filled out correctly.

Such a smooth and efficient process to demonstrate how the SNP government departments get things done.

Another triumph for the SNP.... Eh First Minister?
