British Movement (Scotland): more bad news for the SNP - more policy failures and on-going scandals.

First Minister Humza Yousaf - doing what he does best. No wonder that the Al-Mahdi Islamic Centre in Glasgow got such generous financial support from the SNP government.

In a recent BM Scotland blog we commented that scandals emerging from the SNP and its leadership are the 'gift that keeps on giving'. And so it continues....

The SNP Public Spending and Taxation Policies; increasing the top earner tax payment levels in Scotland could see the highest earners moving south to live in England which would mean a loss of potential and actual high tax income for Holyrood.

This insight this week from the Guardian newspaper:

Although the Guardian is a national media mouthpiece for the liberal 'progressive' and Left-wing of British politics, and usually looks favourably on the SNP

Unlike the UK government, Holyrood has few options but to balance its yearly budget. Inflation produced £580m more in tax receipts than projected and the SNP gambled that this would be enough for outlays, such as £100m for NHS waiting lists and higher than expected pay awards, to bolster its flagging appeal. This was a costly bet to lose. The Fraser of Allander Institute warns that the public sector workforce – which accounts for one in five jobs in Scotland – may have to shrink to fill next year’s £1.5bn gap between spending commitments and state revenues.

In a real blow to the SNP obsession with Scottish independence, even the Guardian is at pains to point out that the SNP Scottish government is forced to go cap in hand to Westminster for millions of pounds to function, something an independent Scotland could not do. Perhaps the SNP believes that by some miracle the European Union would fund a newly independent Scotland.

Again the Guardian makes the point:

Egalitarian values have long been the rhetorical basis of Scottish nationalism. The SNP’s policy differentiation did see free university tuition as well as increasing benefits for poorer families. Scotland has a legacy of deep poverty and deindustrialisation. Without more cash from Westminster, the Scottish government’s choices are limited, as its borrowing options are constrained. Humza Yousaf, the SNP first minister, might say higher taxes on the rich build a “fairer society”.

Meanwhile  More SNP Scandals Enter the Public Mind

First of all the recent revelations about the SNP grants to a Glasgow mosque linked to Iran.

It seems that the official SNP admissions about a grant to the Al-Mahdi Islamic Centre and mosque in Glasgow was downplayed and the true value of the grant was almost double the original amount.

Classing the grant as being made to a 'charity', the Scottish government made an initial grant of £193,000 to the Al-Mahdi Foundation from the Scottish 'Climate Change Fund', which comes out of the Scottish government budget.

But it finally emerged in mid-December that the total grants given to the Al-Mahdi Islamic Centre in Glasgow amounted to a staggering £372,000.

Given this Islamic Centre and mosque's close ties to Iran and the Iran Islamic Republic with the regime's known hostility to the United Kingdom and the West, how does the SNP administration justify this?

Do Not Forget Nicola Sturgeon

And it would not be the SNP without more information leaking out about Police Scotland investigations into the SNP linked financial dealings of former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and her husband.

Did someone mention the purchase of a £95,000 Jaguar car ?                                           Where did the money come from to buy that Jag?

Not forgetting that the investigation into the purchase of the camper van by Sturgeon and her husband has not gone away yet.

British Movement (Scotland) - Latest SNP Scandal - BM News and Views - December 2023 in Scotland.

British Movement Scotland: Latest SNP Scandal BM News and Views - December 2023 in Scotland.

And the SNP continues to provide its own bad news!

Now there are media stories circulating about a sex scandal involving SNP Members of the Scottish Parliament.

First Minister Humza Yousaf has just returned from playing his favourite role as an international statesman at the COP28 conference in Dubai. As is often the case when the First Minister of Scotland is strutting on an international stage he is making bold statements and making promises to Third World politicians as if he is some kind of great leader of a powerful, wealthy nation.

Humza Yousaf has promised that the Scottish government will invest £2 million in the so-called 'climate justice' projects in the Third World countries of the 'global south'.

"Our world-first climate justice fund will continue to focus on communities most affected by climate change, and in order to deliver for those who need it most we must ensure the views and needs of those typically marginalised in such communities – particularly urban voices from the global south and youth perspectives "

Which part of the Scottish government budget is that money being taken from?

Why not invest in the needs of Scotland and the Scottish people?

Meanwhile back at the ranch in Holyrood, the Covid 19 lockdowns were apparently breached by two SNP politicians conducting an extra marital affair.

Rumours and denials abound, but it is strongly suggested that the husband of the woman MSP involved has been threatened with violence (by persons not yet identified) for speaking out.

And do not forget the SNP at the Court of Sessions

The SNP and its lawyers are trying to block Freedom of Information requests, still trying to hide internal SNP documents from scrutiny, still putting up a smokescreen for Nicola Sturgeon.

Remember that when she was First Minister Nicola Sturgeon used to boast about her government's 'transparency' and 'openness' and yet time and again the official Covid-19 inquiry cannot secure the Whats App messages it has requested from the SNP (and Nicola Sturgeon) and for some reason a stack of notes on paper that Nicola Sturgeon used but then destroyed.

So much for 'openness' and 'transparency' in the SNP government.

And the High Court says that the Westminster government rejection of the SNP inspired Gender Recognition reform bill was lawful.

As the week ends, the Hugh Court inflicts another defeat on the SNP government, although the Scottish Greens, plus a number of MSPs from Scottish Labour and of course the Lib Dems had a hand in this failed piece of Holyrood legislation.

Not surprisingly this legal ruling by Scotland's highest court has not gone down well with the 'progressive' elements in Scottish politics.  The "Equality spokesperson" for the Scottish Greens has said that the high court ruling as a "democratic outrage" and "a devastating day for equality".                  Wow! they don't like to be told No do they?

Predictably First Minister Humza Yousaf upset that the court supported the blocking of an SNP led legislation, said that the court decision was, "a dark day for devolution".

As is to be expected LGBTQ organisations like Stonewall Scotland and Scottish Trans are less than happy that such liberal and 'progressive' legislation has been rejected.

Yet the majority of ordinary Scots do not support such gender political legislation.

And NO we did not forget St Andrew's Day !

British Movement(Scotland) was proud to celebrate Scotland's national day.

And its not just the SNP and Labour Party we don't like;

BM Scotland don't trust the Tories either!

Nor the Scottish Greens, the Liberal Democrats, the Alba Party and any organisation that is Communist, Trotskyist, Maoist, or 'Woke'!
